Be at Our Best when it Matters Most

As busy parents, we often feel exhausted from either broken sleep or, because we are just so busy. At days end, we may be physically & mentally drained from challenging events at work & the travel. Yet, this is often the main time we share together as a family. Are we giving them the best of us or, are we giving them our tired & worn out self?

If we want to achieve more or, simply spend more quality time with our partners & kids, managing our #energylevels is essential. One of my sailing coaches once explained that our energy is like water in a watering can. It is;

  1. #Precious – Like water, we should value our energy very highly & use wisely. Rather than use our energy consistently during a day, we should #varyourexpenditure, leaving loads of energy in the tank for our important tasks, partners & kids.
  2. #Replenishable – just like the can, we can replenish some of our energy levels too. We need to be very good at boosting our energy levels & have great habits for #fillingupthecan regularly. Whether this is done by having a break, deep breathing, stretching, exercising, hydrating, eating healthy food, playing music, talking with someone close, we need to know how to replenish & do it often.
